General Rules
Competition Nailapalooza is an online competition. Competition was created to support potential competitors from around the world. Participants in the NAILPRO Nailapalooza Championship can compete without any travel expenses!
ALL RULES ARE A SUBJECT TO POINT DEDUCTIONS AND OR DISQUALIFICATION!
1. All work for each entry must be completed by the competitor registered for that competition. If NAILPRO finds that this rule has been violated, the competitor will be prohibited from competing in any NAILPRO competition for the period of one year.
2. Competitors may turn in more than one entry. It is up to the competitor to get the entry to the competition and arrange for the entry to be returned to the competitor. NAILPRO will only be responsible for any turn-in entries during the competition. We will not be accepting entries prior to arriving on site and will not be responsible for returning entries to the competitor.
3. Any competitor or model found not complying with the NAILPRO rules before, during or until the close of the show is subject to possible disqualification and/or point deduction. In the event disqualification occurs after awards and/or prizes, cash or otherwise, have been distributed, the disqualified contestant must return their trophy as well as all prizes to NAILPRO staff. He or she will also be prohibited from participate in any NAILPRO or NAILPRO-run competition for one year.
4. Copyrighted Art – NO Copyrighted art is allowed at any time. All designs bearing even a similar likeness will be not allowed. Penalties will be given at judges’ discretion and possible disqualification may be incurred.
5. The NAILPRO Competition staff reserves the right to final interpretation of all rules.
6. Models are NOT allowed to wear any jewelry on their hands, wrists or arms, including watches. Failure to comply will result in a deduction of 5 points in the category of overall. This rule does not apply to models for Fantasy Nail Art.
7. Upon registration, competitors and their models give consent to Nailpro Europe and all its properties to freely use in any form or manner they see fit for Nailpro Europe magazines, websites and projects. In addition, to reproduce all photographs, videos or such taken at the show, including those taken by photographers, or others hired for the show by Nailpro Europe. Not limited to anyone working in conjunction with Nailpro Competitions. All photos, images and videos or film shots are property of Nailpro Europe and may not be used without written permission. Your registration is considered a signed release.
8. If the themes are not followed, disqualification or point deductions are possible. The decision will be that of the Nailpro Competition staff and will be announced during the awards ceremony. Please note when a color or shades of color are given as a theme, it means no other color may be used unless otherwise noted.
9. Competitors must designate their level of experience (Novice or Veteran) when they register, except when competing in a NON-Divisional competition. It is the responsibility of the competitor to be sure they are registered in the correct division. If we are made aware you have designated yourself as a novice and you are actually a veteran you will be disqualified and required to return the trophy and any money given.
10. Competitors may not post any of their competition work to any social media platform whatsoever before the awards ceremony! Any competitor found violating this rule will possibly be given a warning or more likely disqualified from that competition in which they posted their work.
11. When you send your work, you should check that all required attachments have been included. You will get access to your personal folder for sending photos and videos according to the categories. You can submit your work before 23:59 until 25.07.2022.
12. All Photos should be 300dpi and saved as a jpeg, or tiff. You can upload videos of your work up to 1 minute long, size - maximum 500 MB.
13. In any novice competition with 4 or fewer competitors, the first place winner is not required to move to veteran status. If you choose to, you can but are not allowed to return to being a novice.
14. Novice competitors who won first-place in a Nail Art Competition award must advance to the veteran level of Nail Art for the next competition. You may continue to compete as a novice in any extension competitions provided you have not won a first-place in such a competition.
• A novice ART competitor has not competed or never won or won third or second place in any NAIL ART competition.
• A veteran ART competitor has won first-place in any NAIL ART competition.
• A novice Extension competitor has not competed or never won or won third or second places in any NAIL ART competition.
• A veteran Extension competitor has won first-place in any NAIL EXTENSION competition.
• A NON-Divisional competition consists of all categories Veteran and Novice competitors. No first-place win will move anyone up a division.
15. A team of competitors that wants to participate in the NAILPRO Cup Team Challenge must announce their team affiliation upon registering. The number of team members is unlimited. Top 5 team member scores earned will count toward the Nailpro Team Cup. (If a competitor joins a team, or changes teams between shows, the score earned by that competitor in prior competitions will remain with the original team.)
16. Competitors who compete on a manufacturer’s team must compete using only a manufacturer’s labeled products from that company. Files and metal implements are excluded.
17. All winners will receive a trophy/or medallion. A veteran will receive cash awards as follows: 1st …, 2nd … and 3rd.
18. NON-DIVISIONAL competitions combine all categories. Prizes awarded for these competitions will be the following: 1st …, 2nd … and 3rd. Tip and overlay relay members will each receive a medallion except where noted.
19. NAILPRO competitions utilize analytic scoring to judge the entries. The judges preview the novice entries and veteran entries as two separate groups. Through the process of elimination, the judges select no more than ten finalists at each level to be scored. All other entries are excused prior to scoring by the judges. Non-divisional competitions use the same preview and judging system.
20. The finalists at each level are viewed simultaneously during the scoring process. Finalists are evaluated in twelve categories; each category is worth a possible ten or five points, ranging from 1 (Unacceptable) to 10 (Flawless) except where otherwise noted. Each of the three judges is responsible for three to four categories. The categories for each competition are listed in the rules specific to that competition. Only finalists receive score sheets.
21. The competition staff calculates the final scores, and the judges verify the placements before excusing the finalists. Any ties will be broken by the Head Judge. The decision of the judges is final.
22. There must be a minimum of 4 competitors in each competition to proceed as planned. This means 4 each in veteran and/or 4 each in novice. If a competition fails to be held, the novice entrants will be judged in the veteran division for that particular competition only. There will be no refunds of registration fees.

Nailapalooza Competition
Mix Media Nail Art (in box) - the theme «Independent»
1. Competitors must use all of the following mediums for this competition. 3-D Nail Art, Hand Painted Nail Art and Airbrushing or an alternate technique that must be noted and pointed out. Failure to use fewer results in a 10-point deduction for each medium not used.
2. All entries must consist of a set of 10 individual manufacturer tips. They may not be constructed by a layperson. They must be from a manufacturer’s box. The length must be no longer than 2” (5,08 cm) in length and no wider than 3/4” (1,9 cm) if they were flattened out. Tips must be graduated in size. Finished tips must be wearable. Tips must remain individual and not be secured to one another. The design may encompass all 10 tips as a picture, but tips must remain individual. If tips do not meet the requirements, the design may be disqualified or receive a point deduction.
3. Mixed Media Nail Art will be judged in the following categories: originality, visual interest, color, presentation, balance, design & detail, tip length, overall impression, complexity, dimension, workmanship and theme.
4. Competitors must prepare and submit a written statement in two parts: one detailing the products and processes used to create the art (do NOT name specific brands or manufacturers, and one telling the story of your interpretation of the theme. Failure to provide this information will result in a 5 point deduction in the overall score. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME.
These Rules Apply to All Categories
1. All of the rules specified for each individual competition category (3-D Nail Art, Hand Painted Nail Art and Airbrushing) must be followed.
2. Competitors may NOT use any copyrighted art, designs or logos.
3. All work must be completed prior to the competition. No work station, seating or electrical outlet will be provided.
4. Tip original color does NOT matter.
5. Top coat, UV gel sealant or glitter polish may be used.
6. NO molds may be used to assist with any design.
7. Competitors may use a similar version of copyrighted art, design or logo but they must not be identical to the original. If the artwork does not follow criteria judges will determine point deductions.
8. Any 3-D Nail Art, Hand Painted Nail Art or Airbrushing design that has already won first place at any NAILPRO competition cannot be reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent Nailpro competitions. The Nailpro competition staff will disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the Nailpro competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence.
These Rules Apply to 3-D Nail Art only
1. All 3-D nail art must be made from professional nail products (colored liquid-and-powder acrylic, light-cured gel, wraps and resin, polish, rhinestones, etc.)
2. The 3-D design may not protrude more than 1” in height from the tip surface. No part of the entry may extend over the 6×8″ base.
3. Embellishments or adornments may be used, but must NOT exceed 25% of the overall design.
These Rules Apply to Hand Painted Nail Art only
1. All work must be done by hand painting only. Only paint, nail polish and gel polish may be used..
These Rules Apply to Airbrushed Nail Art only
1. All airbrushing must be done with airbrush paint only

Gel Hand Painted Nail Art (in box) - the theme «Vacation in the City»
1. Gel Paint – Hand Painted Nail Art entry must consist of a set of 10 individual manufacturer tips. The length must be no longer than 2” in length and no wider than 3/4” if they were flattened out. Tips must be graduated in size. Tips must remain individual and not be secured to one another. The design may encompass all 10 tips as a picture, but tips must remain individual.
2. All work must be done by GEL paint hand painting only. Absolutely NO airbrushing, or acrylic paint is ALLOWED! Only Gel paint may be used. Stamping of any type is not allowed.
3. The surface of the tips must be flush; NO raised surfaces.
4. Top coat or UV gel sealant may be used but must NOT contain any glitter.
5. NO Copyrighted art is allowed at any time. Penalties will be given at judges’ discretion and possible disqualification may be incurred.
6. Competitors must prepare and submit a written statement in two parts: one detailing the products and processes used to create the art (do NOT name specific brands or manufacturers), and one telling the story of your interpretation of the theme. Fan Nails Sculptured Design
Rules:
1. Competitors must competing on one hand (unless otherwise noted) of competition-style square nail enhancements with extreme length including inlay design. Only flat paper forms may be used.
2. Competitors may use any products (liquid-and-powder acrylic or light-cured gel, polygel) staying in one technology and within any colors. Any colored enhancement products are allowed to include glitter. Glitter and embellishments are allowed but not over 25%. No stamping or chrome of any sort is allowed.
3. No colored or clear products of any type may be applied to the natural nail.
4. All enhancement products must be applied after forms are applied to the natural nail. No tips, plastic type molds of any kind may be used to form the sculptured nail.
5. The surface of the nail enhancements must be flush. NO raised surfaces.
6. All files and buffers must be clean and unused. Electric files, buffers and buffing products may be used.
7. Cleansing products (soaps, etc.) and moisturizing products (oils, creams, lotions, etc.) are allowed. Excessive use of oil is not permitted. It will be at the judge’s discretion to deduct for excess oil.
8. The nail enhancements on hand must be finished to a high shine by buffing, applying top coat or using a gel sealant. Polish, gel polish, gel paint and glitter polish are NOT ALLOWED.
9. Fan Sculptured Nail Design will be judged in the following categories: lateral structure, “C” curves, originality, cuticle area, surface structure, product control, complexity, design and balance, length, shape, finish work, and overall impression.
10. Any Fan Sculptured Nail Design that wins, or has already won, first place at a NAILPRO competition cannot be reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent NAILPRO competitions.
The NAILPRO competition staff will disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the NAILPRO competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence.

Sculptured Nails
1. Competitors must complete a set of sculptured, competition-style nail enhancements using flat, paper or metal forms only. Tips and adhesive are NOT allowed.
a. Competition-style — The ultimate standard of perfection for all nail enhancements; a set of nail enhancements that have:
- A sleeker, more dramatic look
- A shape that ranges from extreme square to extreme oval (stiletto)
- A 1 to 1 ratio of nail bed (pink) to free edge (white), measured from the center of the smile line
- Product thinly applied near the cuticle area, reinforced at the stress area, and tapered to the free edge so it is equal to approximately the thinness of a business card (.01-.03 inches)
- Consistent “C” curves between 40% and 50% (144° and 180° arc)
2. Competitors must use liquid-and-powder acrylic products or light cured products only.
3. Only sheer pink, clear and white enhancement products may be used. Enhancement products containing glitter and/or any other color are NOT allowed. Cover pinks are not allowed.
4. Embellishments may NOT be used.
5. No products, such as inverted tips or any “cookie cutter” products may be used to form or assist in making a smile line. All smile lines must be done with a brush by hand. Paint on white is not allowed. White gel and white gel polish are not allowed.
6. No plastic type molds of any kind may be used to form the sculptured nail.
7. Moons must be added at the base of the nail, and must be sculpted on the unpolished hand. At the discretion of the competitor, moons may be added to the polished hand.
8. All files and buffers must be clean and unused and free from additives including oil; electric files and buffing products may not be used. You may NOT use any file to refine the smile lines.
9. Water only may be used. Cleansing products (soaps, etc.) and moisturizing products (oils, creams, lotions, bowls with anything in them i.e. marbles, rocks etc.) are NOT allowed.
10. The nail enhancements on the one hand (competitor’s choice) must be polished with red cream polish, or if sculpting with gels a red gel color may be used. Base coat, ridge filler and top coat are NOT allowed. If a one-handed competition, 2 nails must be polished.
11. The nail enhancements on the unpolished hand must be French-style (pink/clear and white), finished to a high shine and completely free of polish. Gel sealant may NOT be used to finish to a high shine.
12. The underside of all nails must look the same.
13. Sculptured Nails will be judged in the following categories: smile lines, “C”curves, cuticle area, shape, product control, moons, surface structure, lateral structure, length, polish or color application, finish work, and overall impression.

On my own
1. You must complete one hand of a set of salon-style nail extensions on yourself. You may not have a model or any assistance from anyone.
2. You must use either flat paper or metal forms or tips. White tips are NOT allowed (clear or natural tips only).
3. Competitors must use professional products only. Enhancement products containing glitter and/or any other color are NOT allowed. You may use cover pink.
4. Embellishment(s) may NOT be used.
5. No colored or clear products of any type may be applied to tips prior to attaching them to the natural nail.
6. Only unaltered clear adhesives (gel-type, brush-on, tubes, etc.) may be used to attach tips to the nail. No plastic type molds of any kind may be used to form the sculptured nail.
7. All enhancement products must be applied after tips and or forms are applied to natural nails.
8. No products, such as inverted tips or any “cookie cutter” products may be used to form or assist in making a smile line. All smile lines must be done with a brush by hand. Paint on white is not allowed. White gel paint or white gel polish is not allowed.

Airbrush Nail Art (in box) - the theme “In the world of Nature”
1. Airbrush Nail Art entry must consist of a set of 5 individual manufacturer tips. The length must be no longer than 5,08 cm in length and no wider than 1,9 cm if they were flattened out. Tips must graduated in size. The shape of the tips can be any, but the same on all nails. Tips must remain individual and not be secured to one another. The design may encompass all 5 tips as a picture, but tips must remain individual.
2. Entries must be presented on a flat surface, one color, no texture, no mirror. The five tips must be fastened on this surface. The size of the mounting surface must be a maximum of 15,24 cm wide by 20,32 cm deep by 0,635 cm tall
3. The original color of the tips does not matter. Each tip may have a different color, the coating should be solid, applying of colors must be done with airbrush only.
4. All work must be done by airbrushing ONLY. Gel paint hand painting or acrylic hand painting is absolutely NOT ALLOWED. Stamping of any type is NOT allowed.
5. The type of airbrushing you do, as well as the colors you use are your choice. You may use as many or few colors as you like. Metallic and shiny colors for paint are allowed. You can use any type of airbrush paint.
6. Your Airbrush application should be completely smooth and clean.
7. The surface of the tips must be flush; NO raised surfaces.
8. You MUST use some type of top coat or UV gel sealant. Must NOT contain any glitter.
9. NO Copyrighted art is allowed at any time. Penalties will be given or and possible a possible disqualification at the judges discretion.
10. Airbrush Nail Art will be judged in the following categories: originality, visual interest, color, presentation, balance, design, detail, overall impression, complexity, workmanship, airbrush technique, tip length & shape and theme.
11. Any Airbrush design that wins, or has already won, first place at a prior NAILPRO competition cannot be reused by the winner or copied by other competitors in subsequent NAILPRO competitions.
The NAILPRO competition staff reserves the right to disqualify any design it considers too similar to a winning design. Any discussion with the NAILPRO competition staff about designs will be held in strict confidence

Soak-Off Gel Application
1. Work must be applied to natural nails only.
2. No regular gel may be used in any capacity or point before or during the competition.
3. Cleansing products are allowed. This includes oils and moisturizers. Too much oil, or uncured products will receive point deductions.
4. The natural nails of one hand (competitor’s choice) must be covered with RED soak-off gel polish.
5. The natural nails on the opposite hand must be covered with French-style pink and white soak-off gel polish combination. Traditional French-style pink and white soak-off gel polish colors must be used.
6. No artwork is allowed.
7. Soak-Off Gel will be judged in the following ten categories: smile lines, shape, soak-off gel polish application (French-style), finish work, cuticle area, surface smoothness, soak-off gel polish application, product control, length, lateral view, color balance and overall impression.

Judge 1
Smile Lines – 10 Points
the smile lines are crisp (definition between pink and white)
the smile lines are symmetrical and consistent with the design
“C” curves – 10 Points
the curvature of the nail enhancement is consistent with each shape
the depth of curvature is a range between 40% and 50% depending on style of nail
the percent of curvature enhances the model’s nails and the style of nail
since nail enhancements are unique in shape, consideration will be given for the apparent lack of traditional “C” curvature at the distal edge
Cuticle Area – 5 Points
the product is flush to the natural nails and close to the cuticles
the model’s skin at the cuticle area is in excellent condition (free from abrasions)
Shape – 10 Points
the individual shape is symmetrical within itself
the shape is unique and executed well
Judge 2
Product Control – 5 Points
the product is completely free of air bubbles and pits
the color of the product is consistent
the skin is free from all products
Five Styles – 10 Points
the Five Styles are innovative and new

Surface Structure – 10 Points
the top surfaces of the nail enhancements are smooth and perfectly contoured

Judge 3
Length – 5 Points
the length, measured from cuticle to the end of the extension, is consistent with the shape of that nail. Some nails may be longer than others to show the shape in the best light

Photos and Videos Submission
Release forms:
1. RELEASE FORMS ARE CRITICAL!
Nailpro Europe Nailapalooza Competition is providing you with a Photo Information Form and various other forms. You will get access to your personal folder for sending photos and videos according to the categories. You can submit your work before 23:59 until 25.07.2022.
Forms must be signed by all of the following people:
______The photographer(s) who took the photos (“Non-Exclusive Photography License”).
______The model(s) who appear in the photos (“Model Release”).
______The technician (“Technician Release”).
Absence of completed forms or incomplete forms will automatically eliminate your submission!
2. MODELS
MUST sign the “Model Release form”. If they are under 18 they must also have their parents or guardian sign the (“Ratification by Parent or Guardian of Minor”) Please make sure your models have great hands.
3. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY – ALL WORK MUST BE DIGITAL
Please use the following as your criteria: Resolution MUST be 300 dpi. 5 x 7
When you send your work, you should check that all required attachments have been included. You will get access to your personal folder for sending photos and videos according to the categories. You can submit your work before 23:59 until 25.07.2022.
4. PHOTOGRAPHY
A professional photographer is not necessary for your submission. A professional photographer will best represent your hard work and greatly increase your chances for winning Nailpro Europe Nailapalooza Competition. If a professional photographer is used they must sign and return a Non-Exclusive Photography License.
5. PHOTOS
You must submit 5 specific photos of your work photographs of all signed appropriate documents. Examples below.
The 5 photo requirements are for Extension Competition:
All photos to be shot with black or white background only.
1. Presentation – Hands crossed right over left and shot from above
2. C - Curve – Camera angle is that of someone looking at the nails from the distal edge to the cuticle.
3 & 4 2 photos. Sides both left and right - Camera angle is from the side of the right hand and the left hand and then reversed.
5. Overall – Both hands on a flat black surface, camera angle is from above.
The 5 photo requirements For Nail Art work:
1. Presentation – Nail Art all 10 nail tips in frame as tight as possible
2. 3 photos close up A, B, C Each a different part of the entry.
3. 1 photo – close up of the most detailed section you want us to see closely
Photo Shoot Guidelines
Be sure the photos are in focus. Use a tripod if necessary. Experiment with settings on the camera for the best presentation of your work.

Return of registration fee (participation fee), in the case of force majeure of a member, will not be done.

We send cash prizes to the indicated bank account after announcing the results. You can pick up the cup and physical prizes in person in Krakow or they will be sent by courier to the address provided. Nailpro Competitions does not bear the cost of shipping the trophies to the winners. Winners should pay for trophy shipping.
